Frequently Asked Questions
- Question
- What do i need to be aware of when booking a DJ?
- Answer
- The main thing is not to book a DJ from anyone based solely on price. Most events and functions are one off events, they cannot be repeated if the entertainment is poor or doesn't turn up. A professional DJ service will be set up before the booking starts, provide written, binding confirmation, be happy to play your music requests and most importantly will have up to date, high quality, PAT tested DJ sound and lighting equipment plus back up gear if its ever needed. The old cliche "you get what you pay for" has never been truer. An interesting statistic from "Bride & Groom" magazine regarding making plans for a wedding are that the entertainment is one of the lowest priorities when booking a wedding DJ, however when asked a week after the event 78% of brides wished they had made it the number one priority, as it is one of the things most people remember about a wedding.
- Question
- How much do you charge?
- Answer
- Our soul, funk and disco mobile DJ service charges are based on the duration of your event with a minimum 3 hour booking plus an additional hourly charge if a longer period is required. We charge a lower hourly tariff for our background music service as less equipment is required. Please fill in our online booking quote form with as much detail as possible and we will answer your enquiry as soon as possible with a full costing for your event. Please bear in mind when booking a cheshire DJ that most events require the DJ to do upto 4 hours of uncharged work collating requests lists, travelling to and from a venue and the setting up and packing down time.
- Question
- What kind of music do your DJs play?
- Answer
- Any soul, funk, disco, 80's grooves, motown, northern soul, electro, hiphop and funky house. Our DJs regularly play at "Funkademia" in Manchester and are used to playing soulful floorfillers to an enthusiastic crowd.
- Question
- Do you do requests?
- Answer
- Yes we are very happy to take requests on the night. We can also send out a requests sheet once your booking is made, for you to list any favourite artists, styles of music and particular tracks or dedications. The completed requests sheet is given to your DJ in advance of the booking, to help him/her prepare for your party.
- Question
- Do you confirm in writing?
- Answer
- Yes, we issue a contract showing all the details of your function, to be signed by both parties.
- Question
- How do I know you won’t let me down?
- Answer
- Your DJ will sign a similar contact with us, specific to your function and is supplied with a detailed map showing how to get to your party. We also have standby DJs in case of sickness, etc. If you have any concerns regarding your booking, there is someone manning our helpline between 10.00am - 7.00pm seven days a week.
- Question
- How long do you need to set up and how much space do you require?
- Answer
- Our DJs usually allow an hour for setting up, and can usually fit into an area 3 metres x 3 metres. Larger functions may require more time & space. Our DJs do not charge for this setting up period.
- Question
- Why does it make a difference if the venue is upstairs?
- Answer
- This is to help the DJ understand exactly where the function is to be held, it may also mean extra time will be needed for setting up.
- Question
- What kind of lighting do you use?
- Answer
- Different DJs use various lighting effects, depending on the function and venue. These do not usually include strobe lighting or smoke / haze machines. If either of these are required please check that your venue allows them before requesting them.
- Question
- What will the DJ wear?
- Answer
- Our DJs generally dress smart casual, shirt & tie or black tie upon request. Please request this on booking.
- Question
- Have you got Insurance?
- Answer
- Yes, we hold £5m Public Liability Insurance cover, a copy of our current certificate is available on request.
- Question
- What about Health & Safety – is your equipment tested?
- Answer
- Yes, all our DJs equipment is Portable Appliance (PAT) tested annually in accordance with the Health & Safety Executive, Electricity at Work Act 1989. A copy of your DJ’s current test certificate is available on request.
- Question

- Answer
